Koko The Gorilla Mourns The Loss Of Robin Williams – Warning: Tissues Needed!

  • Make sure you have a box of tissues on hand because these photos of Koko the gorilla reacting to the death of her pal Robin Williams are sure to draw a tear or two… The beloved Mrs Doubtfire actor was famous for his incredible ability to touch the lives of both children and adults across the globe. Yet it seems that Williams also had a knack for building special bonds with animals.

Williams and Koko first met back in 2011, when the world famous comedy actor visited The Gorilla Foundation in Woodside, Calif. The pair participated in a promotional video shoot which involved a lot of cuddling, wrestling, tickling and of course, laughter.

Dr. Penny Patterson, Koko’s foster mum recalls that the two bonded immediately, explaining, “Koko instantly connected with Robin. Koko, like us, can sense a person’s nature and in this case, she was quickly drawn to Robin’s warm heart.”

Fun and laughter come naturally to both Williams and Koko

So when Koko heard the news of her friend’s death on August 11, she was understandably devastated. Patterson broke the news herself, with the details revealed in a press release issued by The Gorilla Foundation.

“After the first call, Koko came to Dr. Patterson with an inquiring look on her face. Dr. Patterson explained that ‘we have lost a dear friend, Robin Williams,'” it reads.

“Koko was quiet and looked very thoughtful.”
